Once a month, we organize a Wine & Cheese party at home to gather the interesting people we encountered in the past weeks, and I take advantage of this occasion to test some interactive ideas
I use the principle of the slitscan to create a real-time wallpaper where the partygoers accidentally interfere with the artwork when they go to the drinks corner. A webcam records a vertical slice of pixels, and the system spreads it horizontally over time (it removes one spatial dimension and replaces it with a temporal dimension). It creates abstract shapes while still preserving the beauty of the slitscan's horizontalness.
Going beyond this party experiment, I feed the output to a real-time inpainting AI system that transforms the slitscan into another new form of artwork.
